These are pretty extraordinary statistics for a direct mail piece, but this was a pretty extraordinary project.
Tree Top, maker of the world’s finest apple juice and applesauce, asked us to get them an audience with the decision-makers at McDonald’s, which is no small task. They had a new line of applesauce pouches that they wanted to pitch as new, healthier options for Happy Meals, and needed something attention-grabbing to get Tree Top noticed.
Since Happy Meals are for kids, I drew inspiration from by my favorite childhood toy playsets and pop-up books, and designed a 4X-scale Happy Meal that when opened transforms into an apple crate that reveals a whole world of farm-fresh goodness straight from the apple orchards of Yakima, Washington, and held samples of all six flavors of Tree Top’s applesauce pouches.
These pieces and they were sent directly to the McDonald’s buyers, who were all so impressed with the pieces that Tree Top was contacted that day and was in a meeting with them two weeks later.
The client also had us create smaller single-sample mailers they could use ad hoc.
